Pacific Theatre aspires to delight, provoke and stimulate dialogue by producing theatre that rigorously explores the spiritual aspects of human experience. In over 30 seasons, Pacific Theatre has produced more than 120 professional mainstage productions ranging from established works to original world premieres featuring some of the top theatre artists from Vancouver and across the continent.
Pacific Theatre celebrates its 35thseason with a packed line up of theatre that matters. From intimate family drama to decade-spanning tales of destiny, Pacific Theatre continues to ask hard questions with an eye for empathy as well as entertainment.
The season kicks off with Ins Choi’s critically acclaimed Kim’s Convenience, a story of family and legacy that was recently adapted into a hit CBC show. This year also includes several productions highlighting powerhouse young producers and actors in the Pacific Theatre family: the ensemble behind Sarah DeLappe’s The Wolves is back for an extended stay after selling out its run as an apprentice project, and Cave Canem productions returns with the hard-hitting Cherry Docs.
Bekah Brunstetter’s The Cake, a timely dramedy about love, politics and (of course) cake closes out the season. “I am delighted with the plays,” said Artistic Director Ron Reed. “Our world is full of divides that seem un-crossable. Theatre is where we go to give our hearts a workout, and to see one another with new eyes. This season does that with aplomb.”
