Nakai Theatre Ensemble produces and presents high quality, uncommon theatre for Yukon audiences and develops local artists and their work. Founded in 1979, Nakai has a rich history of theatre making in Whitehorse and beyond.

Mandate: We create opportunities for artistic creation, exchange, and learning for theatre practitioners – local, national, and international. We produce or co-produce theatre of consequence and relevance for local, national, and international audiences and contribute to the canon of Canadian theatre. We operate with a strong organizational structure that delivers vital creative programming while ensuring financial resilience and sustainable growth. We engage in the steps necessary to create a space for theatre and dedication to rehearsal and development. We grow audience impact and size with varied and strategic programming.
